Bruce Springsteen at UBS Arena — The Only Long Island Stop, and How to Get There
Bruce Springsteen is coming to UBS Arena on Tuesday, May 5th — and this is the only Long Island stop on his entire NYC-metro run. He's also playing Madison Square Garden twice, Barclays Center, and Prudential Center in Newark. But if you're on Long Island and you want to see Springsteen without a two-hour commute, this is your night.
That also means every Springsteen fan in Nassau and Suffolk who wasn't willing to schlep to Newark or sit on a train to Penn Station just bought a ticket to this show. UBS Arena holds about 17,500. It is going to be full. And the parking situation at UBS Arena — which sits right next to Belmont Park on Hempstead Turnpike — is worth thinking through before you get there.
The Venue: UBS Arena at Belmont Park
UBS Arena opened in 2021. It's a well-designed building and it's right here in Nassau County, which is genuinely convenient for most of Long Island. The location is 2550 Hempstead Turnpike in Elmont — just off the Cross Island Parkway, a straight shot from the Southern State or the LIE.
The problem isn't getting there. The problem is the parking.
The lots at UBS Arena are attached to the Belmont Park complex and they fill fast for a sellout. On a Tuesday night in May, you're not competing with racetrack traffic, but 17,500 concert-goers create their own congestion. Hempstead Turnpike runs narrow through that stretch, and the Cross Island Parkway exit backs up when the lot lets out. This is the same situation Islanders fans deal with on game nights — anyone who's left a late third period knows what the post-show parking scene looks like.
A Springsteen show runs three hours, sometimes more. A 7:30 start means you're not walking out before 10:45, and more realistically 11pm or 11:15. That's when the parking lot becomes the worst part of the night.
Can You Take the LIRR?
The honest answer: it's not straightforward.
There is no LIRR station at UBS Arena the way there's one at Citi Field or a short Uber from Madison Square Garden. The closest LIRR options are Jamaica or Valley Stream, and from either one you're looking at an Uber or rideshare to the venue. That leg is fine going in. Coming out at 11pm after a sold-out show, you're competing with several thousand other people trying to get the same ride.
After 11pm on a Tuesday, LIRR service frequency drops off. If you miss your connection at Jamaica, you could be waiting 30 to 40 minutes for the next train. By the time you get back to your car at Ronkonkoma or Huntington or Babylon station, you've added a significant amount of time to an already late night.
If you live close to a station and the logistics line up perfectly, the train works. For most Long Island households, it means two transfer points and a lot of standing around after midnight.
What Rideshare Looks Like at 11pm
Uber and Lyft surge after major concerts. That's not a surprise. What surprises people is the magnitude — and the wait.
When 17,000 people open their apps at the same moment, prices jump fast. Two to three times normal pricing is common after big shows at arenas this size. The wait for a pickup at UBS Arena on a Tuesday night, with everyone funneling out of the same exits, can run 20 to 30 minutes.
You've just watched three hours of Springsteen. You don't want to stand in a parking lot in Elmont for half an hour waiting on an Uber that keeps moving its arrival estimate.
How We Handle This
We pick you up at your door. You ride to UBS Arena. You see the show. We're there when it ends.
No parking. No surge. No standing on Hempstead Turnpike at 11:15pm trying to get a signal.
We know concert night logistics at UBS Arena the same way we know the Islanders schedule. We've been doing runs to this building since it opened. We know where to stage for pickup, when the crowd starts moving toward the exits, and which way to come out to avoid sitting on the Cross Island behind the bulk of the traffic. If you've used us for airport transfers to JFK or LGA, the principle is the same — we manage the timing so you're not thinking about it.
Who This Makes Sense For
Couples coming from Suffolk. If you're in Smithtown, Hauppauge, Commack, or Huntington, driving to UBS Arena is maybe 45 to 60 minutes with normal Tuesday evening traffic. Driving home after 11pm is fine. But add parking, post-show lot congestion, and the Cross Island backup, and you're looking at midnight or later before you're home. When you split the car service cost two ways, it's often close to what you'd spend on parking and a rideshare anyway — without one of you being stuck as the designated driver.
Anyone bringing clients. Springsteen is marquee client entertainment. If you're taking someone to this show, you want the evening to be effortless from the moment you leave the office. A car waiting when you walk out of the arena, heading back to their hotel or their house on Long Island, is the detail that makes the night complete. It also means you can enjoy the show without watching the clock to get back to wherever you parked.
Suffolk County fans who don't want to deal with the drive. This is Springsteen's only Long Island date. If you drove to MSG or Barclays or Newark, you've already done that once. This one is in your backyard — treat the night accordingly.
The Specifics for May 5th
Show time: 7:30 PM, UBS Arena, 2550 Hempstead Turnpike, Elmont, NY
Expected end time: 10:45 PM to 11:15 PM — Springsteen runs long, plan for 11:15
Parking lot exit situation: Cross Island Parkway southbound and Hempstead Turnpike east/west back up immediately post-show — budget 30 to 45 minutes to clear the lot
From Nassau County (Garden City, Hicksville, Melville area): 20 to 30 minutes to the venue, not a long drive — but returning post-show is where time gets lost
From Suffolk County (Huntington, Smithtown, Babylon area): 45 to 60 minutes in, figure 75 minutes or more getting out of the lot and back east
Rideshare surge window: 10:45 PM to midnight is peak surge — if you're calling a car at that time, you're paying for it
One More Thing
This is the only Long Island show on his NYC-metro run. The rest of his dates are at MSG, Barclays, and Prudential Center — all of which require either a drive into the city or a train. This one is five minutes off the Cross Island Parkway.
The fans who drove to Newark last time or sat on NJ Transit at midnight are going to this show. The Nassau Coliseum regulars who miss having a major arena in Nassau County are going to this show. It will sell. And the parking situation will be what it always is after a sold-out arena show at Belmont.
