UBS Arena is the home of the New York Islanders and one of the premier mid-size concert venues in the metro area. 18,000 seats, strong acoustics, easy access to the island by highway — when the roads aren't backed up.
Memorial Day is when the roads are backed up.
What the Drive Looks Like on Memorial Day
The Elmont area sits at the intersection of Nassau County and Queens. On a normal concert night, the Northern State Parkway and Belt Parkway move fine. On Memorial Day weekend, both are already running at elevated traffic from Hamptons-bound drivers, airport travelers, and anyone heading to or from a beach.
Layer a sold-out UBS Arena show on top of that and you get:
- Inbound: Northern State and Glen Cove Road from the east clogged from 5 PM onward
- Parking: UBS Arena charges $40–$50 for on-site parking; garage fills fast
- Post-show: 18,000 people exiting onto Hempstead Turnpike at the same time, connecting to the same two highways
The 11 PM drive home from Elmont on Memorial Day is not a quick one.
How a Car Service Handles This Differently
We've done hundreds of UBS Arena runs. The building has a dedicated car service drop-off and pickup lane on the north side of the arena that's separate from the parking garage traffic. It's faster in, and significantly faster out.
Getting there: We pick you up at home and drop off directly at the UBS Arena entrance. You skip the parking garage, skip the lot walk, and walk in without navigating traffic cones in a garage.
Getting home: We time the pickup based on the show's running time. When you text us that you're heading out, your driver is already staged or 3–4 minutes out. We exit north on Elmont Road toward the Nassau Expressway — the route most people don't know — rather than sitting on Hempstead Turnpike.
The rate is fixed when you book. No Memorial Day surge. No post-show spike. You know the number before you leave the house.
Who This Makes Sense For
Car service for a UBS Arena show makes the most sense if you're coming from:
- Nassau County (Great Neck, Roslyn, Garden City, Mineola, Hicksville): 15–25 minutes on a clear night, 40–55 minutes on Memorial Day with traffic
- Western Suffolk (Huntington, Commack, Dix Hills, Melville, Deer Park): 30–40 minutes normally, up to an hour on a holiday night
- Queens / Far Rockaway / Valley Stream: Eastbound Belt Pkwy before the show, same route back — we know the timing well
