Florence + The Machine at MSG and Barclays Center: Car Service from Long Island
Florence + The Machine is bringing the Everybody Scream Tour to the NYC metro this week — Madison Square Garden on April 21 and 22 (both nights already sold out), and Barclays Center on Friday, April 24. Three shows in four days. If you're coming from Long Island, the logistics look a little different for each one, and none of them are straightforward.
MSG on a Tuesday and Wednesday evening is one thing. Barclays Center on a Friday night with the Belt Parkway involved is another.
Here's what to actually plan for.
Getting from Long Island to MSG for April 21 and 22
Both MSG shows start at 7:30 PM, with doors at 6:30. From Nassau County you're looking at roughly 45–60 minutes to midtown in decent traffic. From Suffolk — Dix Hills, Melville, Huntington, Commack — closer to 60–75 minutes, and that's if things are moving.
The route is the LIE west to the Queens Midtown Tunnel, then into Manhattan. On a Tuesday or Wednesday evening, rush hour traffic on the LIE runs until 7 PM or later. A 5:30 departure from Nassau gives you a reasonable shot at arriving before doors. From Suffolk, you need to leave by 5:00 or 5:15 to feel comfortable.
Parking near MSG is the other calculation. There's no dedicated lot. The garages on 31st, 33rd, and along Eighth Avenue run $40–80 on event nights, and the closer ones fill before showtime. If you're arriving after 7 PM, you may spend 15 minutes just finding a spot. That's time you don't have when the show starts at 7:30.
The post-show situation is the bigger problem. The Everybody Scream Tour is a full production — figure on getting out of MSG somewhere around 10:30–11 PM. At that point, 19,000 people are exiting into midtown Manhattan at the same time. Seventh and Eighth Avenues around Penn Station become a wall of brake lights and pedestrians.
Rideshare surge pricing after a sold-out MSG concert reliably hits 3x to 4x normal. A ride from MSG back to Long Island that normally runs $70–90 can show up on your app as $180–220, with a 20–30 minute wait on top of it because supply can't keep up with 19,000 people all requesting rides at once. We've done this run after dozens of concerts and Knicks games at MSG. The post-show scramble is not a maybe — it's the math of a sold-out arena in midtown.
A pre-booked, flat-rate car service eliminates all of it. No parking, no surge pricing, no standing on 33rd Street watching the estimate go up while the wait time extends. Your driver is staged nearby. You text. You're in the car.
Getting from Long Island to Barclays Center on Friday April 24
Friday at Barclays Center is a different problem.
The show is at 620 Atlantic Ave in Brooklyn, starting at 7:30 PM. The route from Long Island is the Belt Parkway west toward the BQE, then up to Atlantic Avenue. On a Friday evening, the Belt Parkway is one of the more miserable stretches of road in the metro area. It starts backing up by 3:30 PM and doesn't clear until after 8 PM some Fridays.
From Nassau County, you're looking at 60–75 minutes on a normal Friday evening. From Suffolk, it can push 80–90 minutes. Leave too early and you're sitting on the Belt with nothing to do. Leave at a normal time and you risk missing the opener or scrambling in late.
There's very limited street parking near Barclays, and the surrounding garages fill up well before showtime on concert nights. Barclays Center is in a dense part of Brooklyn — Atlantic Terminal, the intersection of multiple neighborhoods, limited surface lots. The people who drive themselves are either very familiar with the area or spending 20 minutes looking for a spot while the opening act is already on.
The return trip is where Friday really bites. After the show ends around 10:30–11 PM, you're headed back to Long Island through the BQE and Belt on a Friday night. The highway is lighter at that hour than during rush, but the post-show traffic around Barclays, combined with the general Friday-night Brooklyn volume, means the first 20 minutes of the drive are slow regardless.
Rideshare surge pricing on a Friday night after a 17,000-person concert in Brooklyn is severe. You're competing with the general Friday rideshare demand plus the concert crowd. It's a worse surge situation than the weeknight MSG shows.
A car service with a pre-booked flat rate means you know what you're paying before you leave the house, you know your driver is there when you walk out, and the ride back to Long Island happens without incident.
If You're Going to More Than One Show
Three shows in four days is not unusual for a dedicated fan base, and Florence + The Machine's following is exactly that kind of crowd.
If you're doing multiple nights — any combination of April 21, 22, and 24 — the logistics compound. Three round trips from Long Island into the city, two different venues, surge pricing risk on every post-show. The case for pre-booking all three at once is straightforward: lock in flat rates, eliminate the uncertainty, and turn the transportation into one thing you don't have to think about again.
We can coordinate consecutive nights and make sure the same level of service runs through all three. This is the kind of week where people who wing it on transportation end up paying more and stressing more by the end of it.
What to Expect at the Shows
The Everybody Scream Tour supports Florence + The Machine's 2025 album of the same name. Sofia Isella opens all three nights. Both MSG dates are completely sold out — the Barclays Center show on the 24th still has availability but demand is high. Florence Welch performs full theatrical productions; these are long shows. Budget 90 minutes to two hours for the main set, which puts you exiting the venues somewhere around 10:30–11 PM on all three nights.
