Best Things To Do on Long Island This Weekend — August 29–30, 2026

August 29, 2026Rafi

If you are looking for things to do on Long Island this weekend, August 29–30 is the last full swing of the summer before Labor Day week takes over. The Hampton Classic crowns its $400,000 Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon. Jones Beach runs two completely opposite crowds on back-to-back nights. The North Fork throws its biggest dinner party of the year and asks everyone to wear white. And every one of those things ends inside the same Sunday afternoon window, which is the one thing worth planning around out here.

Here is what is on, and the honest transportation picture for each.

Hampton Classic Grand Prix Sunday — Bridgehampton

Sunday, August 30 | Hampton Classic Show Grounds, 240 Snake Hollow Rd, Bridgehampton | $25 per carload general admission, reserved seats around $55

The Hampton Classic has been running since August 23, and Sunday is the day the whole thing has been building toward. The $400,000 Longines Hampton Classic Grand Prix goes at 3 PM in the Grand Prix ring, 1.60 meters, Olympic-level riders. Before that, the $70,000 2* Grand Prix at 11 AM and the Junior/Amateur Classic at 8 AM. Outside the ring it is a full afternoon of vendors, food, and the Hamptons social calendar in one field.

General admission is $25 per carload, which sounds like a bargain until you understand what you are buying. You are buying a spot in a grass field off Snake Hollow Road, and on Grand Prix Sunday that field holds thousands of cars that all want to leave between 5 and 6 PM. It empties onto two-lane roads that feed Montauk Highway.

Then the second thing happens. Grand Prix Sunday is also the last Sunday before Labor Day week, which means the westbound trade parade is already stacked up on Sunrise Highway and the Montauk Highway while the show grounds are letting out. If you are coming from Nassau or western Suffolk, driving yourself means you own that problem for the whole ride home. We run the Hamptons all season and we have a longer breakdown of this event in our Hampton Classic car service guide.

Berzerkus at Jones Beach — Wantagh

Saturday, August 29, 4 PM | Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater, 895 Bay Pkwy, Wantagh | $40.50–$238.50

Zakk Wylde's Berzerkus lands at Jones Beach Saturday with Lamb of God, Black Label Society, Down, Suicidal Tendencies, and Zakk Sabbath. Down has not played the New York area since 2015. There is also a car show, a strongman competition, and a hot sauce eating contest, which tells you the tone of the day better than any lineup can.

Note the start time. Four in the afternoon on a full festival bill means you are on that beach for seven hours, in late August sun, with no shade in the lot. Getting in is easy. Getting out is the Wantagh Parkway and Ocean Parkway, and there is no alternate route, because you are standing on a barrier island. The whole crowd hits that causeway inside twenty minutes of the last note.

A drop at the gate and a pickup at a spot agreed on before the show is the play here, and it is the play every single time at this venue.

Empire of the Sun at Jones Beach — Wantagh

Sunday, August 30, 7:30 PM | Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater, 895 Bay Pkwy, Wantagh | From about $31

Same venue, completely different night. Empire of the Sun brings the Australian electronic act back with Polo & Pan and Midnight Generation opening. Costumes, lights, and a set built for a stage with the Atlantic behind it. Tickets start around $31, which for a Sunday night on the water is one of the last good deals of the season.

The Sunday version of the Jones Beach problem is the more annoying one, because you are folding into beach traffic that has been going all day and into the same westbound Sunday flow as everyone coming back from the East End. The Meadowbrook northbound after a Sunday show at Jones Beach is not a quick trip, and Monday is a work day.

If Saturday and Sunday are both Jones Beach nights for you, book them together. We cover all of Nassau County and the drive is the same either night.

Dan's White Party — Jamesport

Saturday, August 29 | Hallockville Museum Farm, Jamesport | White attire required

The White Party is the North Fork's closing act for the season. Hallockville Museum Farm, communal tables, unlimited tastings from East End chefs, North Fork wines, craft cocktails, live music, dancing after dark. Everyone in white. Tickets through DansTaste.com.

This is the single clearest designated driver situation on the entire Long Island calendar. Unlimited pours, a farm in Jamesport, and Sound Avenue and Route 25 in the dark on the way home. Nobody at that table should be the one driving, and the two people who volunteer are the two people who have the worst night.

Book a car and the whole thing resolves. If it is a group, a Sprinter van handles eight to fourteen and everybody stays together. We run the North Fork wine trail and Suffolk County constantly through the summer and this is the exact call we get most.

Elvis Tribute Artist Spectacular — Westbury

Saturday, August 29, 8 PM | Flagstar at Westbury Music Fair, 960 Brush Hollow Rd, Westbury | $30–$161.35

Ryan Pelton and Shawn Klush headline the Elvis Tribute Artist Spectacular at Westbury Saturday night. Klush has won the world championship version of this thing, and if that sounds like a small distinction, the room he plays to will tell you otherwise. Tickets run from $30.

Westbury Music Fair is a theater in the round, which means every seat is close and the whole house stands up at the same moment when it ends. The lot at Brush Hollow Road empties onto a road that connects straight into the Old Country Road and Glen Cove Road tangle, and that intersection does not need help finding traffic. A door drop matters more here than most people expect, because the crowd at this show skews older and the walk across that lot in the dark is longer than it looks.

Little Shop of Horrors 40th Anniversary — Patchogue

Sunday, August 30, 7 PM | Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts, 71 E Main St, Patchogue | $51–$191

Ellen Greene, the original Audrey, hosts a 40th anniversary screening of Little Shop of Horrors at the Patchogue Theatre Sunday night, with meet-and-greet packages available. This is a real one. The person who sang "Suddenly, Seymour" on that soundtrack, in a 1,100-seat room on Main Street, forty years later.

East Main Street in Patchogue on a Sunday night is dinner traffic before it is theater traffic. The restaurants along Main fill first, the municipal lots go behind them, and the theater breaks around 10 with everybody heading for the same three exits. It is a short, easy drop if somebody else is doing the driving, and a slow twenty minutes of circling if not.

Also on this weekend

Planting Fields in Oyster Bay runs the Great Nature Play Day Festival both days, 10 AM to 2 PM, $15 per child with parents free plus $8 per vehicle for parking, registration required. The Paramount in Huntington has The Sixties Show Saturday at 8 and Will Wood & The Tapeworms Sunday at 7:30, and New York Avenue on a late August Saturday is its own event. The Long Island Ducks are home in Central Islip through Sunday. Wölffer Estate has vineyard yoga at 9 AM both mornings in Sagaponack, and Westhampton Beach has an outdoor art show going. If you are heading off-island instead, the US Open starts Monday at Flushing Meadows and the qualifying-week crowds are already building on the Grand Central.

One Call Covers the Whole Weekend

A grass parking field in Bridgehampton at 5 PM Sunday. The Wantagh causeway Saturday at eleven and again Sunday at ten. A farm in Jamesport with unlimited pours and no sidewalks. These are not event problems. They are geography problems, and they show up the same way every year on the last real weekend of the summer.

We have been running these roads for 20 years, from the Jones Beach lots out to Snake Hollow Road, and we plan the drop and the pickup around how each place actually fills and empties. We cover all of Nassau and Suffolk, the Hamptons and the North Fork, and if the weekend ends with a flight we handle the JFK and LGA runs too. See our Long Island car service details, or request a quote and we will take it from there. The car will be there.
