Mumford & Sons at MSG: Three Nights on the Prizefighter Tour — Long Island Car Service Guide
Mumford & Sons bring the Prizefighter Tour to Madison Square Garden for three consecutive nights this week — Tuesday, August 11, Wednesday, August 12, and Thursday, August 13, with special guest Medium Build opening each night. Doors at 6:30, show at 7:30.
This is a three-night midweek run, which changes the traffic calculation compared to a Friday or Saturday MSG show, and it's happening fast — if you're planning to go, this week is the week.
Three Weeknight Shows Change the Math
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights in Manhattan move differently than weekend nights. The Lincoln Tunnel and Queens Midtown Tunnel are lighter heading into the city on a weeknight evening than they are on a Friday, but midtown itself is still busy with the regular weekday commute overlapping with the early arrivals for the show.
The bigger factor is that this is three shows back to back. Fans going more than once — and with a catalog built for a full arena singalong, plenty are — need transportation sorted for multiple nights, not a single one-off booking.
Getting In and Out of MSG
Madison Square Garden sits directly on top of Penn Station, and there's no dedicated arena parking. The closest garages near Hudson Yards and the Port Authority run $40 to $60 for the night and take real time to clear once 20,000 people are trying to leave at the same time after a 10:30 or 11pm finish.
The LIRR out of Penn Station works for a lot of Long Island fans, but a Tuesday or Wednesday night show ending around 10:30pm means catching a specific train window — miss it and you're waiting close to an hour for the next one, standing on a crowded platform in August heat.
What to Plan For
Leaving Long Island: Build in roughly 2 to 2.5 hours from Nassau County for a 7:30pm show, more from central or eastern Suffolk. Weeknight evening traffic on the LIE and through the tunnels is generally lighter than weekend traffic, but midtown congestion around the Garden picks up as showtime approaches.
After the show: All three nights end around 10:30 to 11pm. The area around 7th and 8th Avenue gets crowded fast as the arena empties. If you have a car waiting, agree on a specific pickup point before you go in — not just "outside the Garden."
If you're going more than once: Coordinate all three nights at once so your driver knows the pattern and you're not re-explaining pickup logistics each night.
