Best Things To Do in NYC This Weekend — March 14–15, 2026
Spring isn't quite here yet, but this weekend gives Long Island plenty of reasons to head into the city — or stay closer to home at UBS Arena. From a massive R&B concert at Barclays to the BIG EAST Championship at Madison Square Garden, there's real competition for your Saturday night.
Here's what's worth the trip, and what to know about getting there.
1. New Edition: The New Edition Way Tour — Barclays Center, Brooklyn
Saturday, March 14 at 8:00 PM
New Edition hits Barclays Center for one night, and they're bringing Boyz II Men and Toni Braxton along for the ride. If you grew up in the '80s or '90s, this lineup is going to feel like a very specific kind of time machine — the good kind.
Barclays Center seats around 19,000 for concerts. The crowd coming from Long Island is significant — this is exactly the kind of show where the Atlantic Avenue area around the arena turns into gridlock from 6:30 PM on.
The transportation reality: The BQE on a Saturday evening heading into Brooklyn is unpredictable. Parking near Barclays runs $40–$60 on event nights, if you can find a spot. Most people end up walking several blocks in the cold because the closer lots fill up by 7:00 PM. Getting dropped off directly at the Atlantic Avenue entrance and having a pickup window ready after the show is a much better plan than circling for 20 minutes.
2. BIG EAST Men's Basketball Tournament Championship — Madison Square Garden, Manhattan
Saturday, March 14
The BIG EAST Tournament has been running all week at MSG, and Saturday is Championship Day. College basketball fans from Connecticut, New Jersey, and Long Island make up a huge portion of the crowd — UConn, St. John's, Seton Hall, and Georgetown supporters all have serious Long Island contingents.
MSG holds just over 20,000 for basketball. Tournament weekend is one of the busiest weekends of the year at Penn Station, which sits directly below the arena.
The transportation reality: LIRR to Penn Station gets you there, but the return trip on tournament Saturday is a different story. Every train back to Long Island fills up fast after the final buzzer, and delays on weekend service are common. If you're going with a group — especially if you're taking clients to the game — a car service in and out sidesteps the Penn Station chaos entirely.
3. New York Islanders vs. Calgary Flames — UBS Arena, Elmont
Saturday, March 14 at 7:00 PM
This one doesn't require crossing a bridge. UBS Arena sits right off the Hempstead Turnpike in Elmont — technically Long Island, technically five minutes from JFK. The Islanders are in a stretch run and this is a meaningful late-season home game.
UBS Arena is newer and has better sightlines than the old Nassau Coliseum, but the parking situation hasn't improved much. The lot fills quickly, the exit after the game backs up onto the Turnpike, and rideshares surge hard after 10:00 PM because everyone is leaving at the same time.
The transportation reality: This is the local option, but local doesn't mean easy. A car service that drops you off at the arena entrance and times the pickup for 20 minutes after the final horn is a straightforward solution — no surge, no waiting for a lot to clear, no cold walk from a back row.
4. Whitney Biennial (82nd Edition) — Whitney Museum of American Art, Manhattan
Open this weekend
Every two years, the Whitney surveys contemporary American art in what's become one of the most talked-about exhibitions in the country. The 82nd edition opened earlier this spring and features emerging and established artists addressing cultural and social issues in work that ranges from painting to installation to video. For visitors under 25, admission is free daily.
The Whitney sits at the southern end of the High Line in the Meatpacking District — a neighborhood that's easy to walk around but not easy to park in, especially on a weekend afternoon.
The transportation reality: The Meatpacking District on a Saturday afternoon is busy. If you're making a day of it — museum, brunch, maybe a walk on the High Line — getting dropped off at the West Side Highway entrance and arranging pickup later gives you the flexibility to spend as much time as you want without watching the clock because you're parked somewhere with a 2-hour limit.
Looking for professional car service from Long Island to Manhattan for a weekend like this? Worth having it sorted before you go.
5. New York Botanical Garden Orchid Show — The Bronx
Open this weekend
"Mr. Flower Fantastic's Concrete Jungle" is the theme for this year's Orchid Show at the New York Botanical Garden, and it delivers — massive floral sculptures built from thousands of orchids installed throughout the historic glass conservatory. It's one of the most visually striking annual events in the city, and it draws a serious crowd of Long Islanders every year.
The Garden is in the Bronx, which means getting there from Long Island involves either the Triborough or the Whitestone, depending on where you're coming from. The parking situation on peak weekend days can eat 20–30 minutes in each direction.
The transportation reality: This is a great family trip or date afternoon, and the kind of thing where you want the driving taken care of. Door-to-door service from Long Island to the Garden means you're not adding parking stress to what's supposed to be a relaxing afternoon.
Getting There from Long Island
March weekends can go either way — sometimes the roads are clear, sometimes a minor weather event or a fender bender on the LIE turns a 45-minute drive into something longer. The five events above span Brooklyn, Midtown, Elmont, the West Side, and the Bronx. None of them have easy parking situations.
At Infinite Car Service, we've handled the airport runs, the concert drop-offs, the MSG game nights, and the Saturday afternoon museum trips for the past 20 years. The car will be there when you need it, and the driver knows the most efficient pickup spot at each of these venues.
