Outlaw Music Festival at Jones Beach: Willie Nelson, the Avett Brothers, and Sheryl Crow on Long Island

The Outlaw Music Festival lands at Northwell at Jones Beach Theater on Friday, August 28, with a six-act lineup led by Willie Nelson & Family, alongside The Avett Brothers, Sheryl Crow, Robert Randolph, Stephen Wilson Jr., and Don Was and the Pan-Detroit Ensemble. Gates open around 1:30 PM, music starts at 3:20 PM, and the show is expected to run until roughly 10:30 PM with Willie Nelson closing the night.

This is one of the biggest single-night draws Jones Beach sees all season, and it comes with the traffic and parking pattern this venue is known for.

Why This Show Is a Bigger Traffic Event Than a Typical Jones Beach Night

A six-act festival bill running from mid-afternoon into late night means fans arrive earlier and stay later than a typical single-headliner show. More people arriving over a longer window, plus more people still in the lots at 10:30 PM when the last set ends, adds up to heavier traffic than a standard two-hour concert.

What to Know About Parking at Jones Beach

Jones Beach Theater parking is free, split mainly across Lot 4 and Lot 5, but the design of the venue means exiting is the real bottleneck, not getting in.

Lot 5 general parking is the closest to the venue but has only one exit onto Ocean Parkway. On a well-attended show, this creates a standstill that regularly runs 60 to 90 minutes before cars start moving after the final set ends.

Lot 4 requires more of a walk but tends to clear out faster once the show ends, since it isn't funneling through the same single choke point as Lot 5.

VIP/Premier Lot 5A, available with an Easy Out or VIP ticket, has a separate exit directly onto the Wantagh State Parkway and cuts exit time down to roughly 15 to 20 minutes — worth knowing about if you're booking tickets and traffic is a real concern.

Arrival timing matters. For a show with this kind of lineup, arriving by 5:30 or 6:00 PM is a safer bet than showing up right before the headliner. Waiting until closer to showtime risks a longer walk from parking and a fuller lot overall.

Why a Car Service Solves the Actual Problem

The traffic issue at Jones Beach isn't the drive there — it's getting out afterward. A car service means you're not the one sitting in a stopped lane for over an hour after a full day of music. A driver can time the pickup for after the crowd starts clearing, or position for a smoother route out entirely, without you needing to think through Lot 5 versus Lot 4 versus VIP parking yourself.

It also solves the surge pricing problem. Rideshare demand spikes hard the moment a Jones Beach show lets out, with limited cars trying to serve a huge crowd all requesting rides within the same 20-minute window. A booked car service has your pickup arranged in advance, at a fixed rate, regardless of what's happening with app-based demand that night.
