Best Things To Do on Long Island This Weekend — June 20–21, 2026

June 20, 2026Rafi

This is the busiest weekend the East End sees all year, and it lands on Father's Day. The US Open wraps up Sunday at Shinnecock Hills, Riley Green plays Jones Beach on Saturday night, the Famous Food Festival takes over Deer Park, the Ducks shoot off fireworks in Central Islip, and the North Fork is running summer solstice programming top to bottom. Everything worth doing this weekend is happening right here on Long Island.

Here is what to plan around, with the parking and traffic reality for each.

US Open Final Round — Shinnecock Hills, Southampton

Final round: Sunday, June 21 | Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, Southampton

The 2026 US Open finishes Sunday on Father's Day at Shinnecock Hills, and it is the single biggest event on the Long Island calendar this year. Saturday's third round and Sunday's final round draw the largest galleries of the week, and the whole East End is operating at peak capacity: Southampton, East Hampton, and the rentals in between are full, and the hospitality crowd is moving on and off the course all day.

Shinnecock has no real public parking. The tournament runs entirely on remote satellite lots and shuttle buses, which means the day ends with thousands of people waiting in a shuttle line in the heat after the trophy ceremony. Montauk Highway and the Sunrise Highway around Southampton sit at a crawl during the morning arrival and the evening exit. A direct drop near the gates and a scheduled pickup skips the shuttle scramble entirely, and on a Father's Day with a national TV audience, that is the difference between ending the day relaxed or stuck in a lot. The full logistics are in our US Open at Shinnecock car service guide.

Riley Green at Jones Beach — Wantagh

Saturday, June 20, 7:00 PM | Northwell at Jones Beach Theater, Wantagh

Riley Green brings the Cowboy As It Gets Tour to the Northwell at Jones Beach Theater on Saturday night, the first big country headliner of the 2026 Jones Beach season. The amphitheater sits right on the water in Jones Beach State Park, and a sold summer Saturday means a packed house and the kind of sunset-over-the-bay setting that makes this venue worth the trip.

Jones Beach parking is the catch every regular knows. The lot is enormous, but the single causeway in and out of the park backs up hard before the show and turns into one long line of brake lights afterward, with everyone leaving at once on the Meadowbrook and Wantagh Parkways. A drop at the venue gate and a pickup after the encore means you walk straight in and skip the worst of the parkway crush. For a group coming in from Nassau or western Suffolk, one car beats three people circling the lot.

Famous Food Festival — Tanger Outlets, Deer Park

Friday–Sunday, June 19–21 | Tanger Outlets, Deer Park

The Famous Food Festival returns to the Tanger Outlets in Deer Park this weekend with more than 100 vendors serving food from around the world, plus live music and a full carnival-style setup. It has grown into one of Suffolk's biggest summer food events, and the Father's Day weekend timing pulls a regional crowd across all three days.

Deer Park sits right off the LIE and the Southern State, so the drive is easy from most of the island. The parking is the part that goes sideways. The Tanger lots fill on a normal shopping Saturday, and a festival weekend layers thousands more cars on top of that. For a family making the run from Nassau or eastern Suffolk, a drop at the entrance skips the loop around a full lot in the June heat and gets everyone to the food before the lines build.

Long Island Ducks Father's Day Weekend — Central Islip

Saturday, June 20 (fireworks) + Sunday, June 21, 1:35 PM (Father's Day vs. Lancaster) | Fairfield Properties Ballpark, Central Islip

The Ducks have one of the best value weekends of their season at home in Central Islip. Saturday night ends with a Postgame Fireworks Spectacular, and Sunday is a 1:35 PM Father's Day game against Lancaster with a Father's Day barbecue add-on. Affordable minor-league baseball, fireworks over the outfield, and a Father's Day afternoon at the ballpark make this the easy family pick of the weekend.

Fairfield Properties Ballpark is right off the Southern State and Sunrise Highway in Central Islip, and the on-site parking handles most nights fine. A fireworks Saturday and a Father's Day Sunday are the two dates that fill it, and the lot empties slowly afterward. For a multi-generation group with Dad, the grandparents, and the kids, one car drop at the gate beats coordinating two or three vehicles, and nobody has to be the one waiting in the lot line after the last firework.

North Fork & Hamptons Summer Solstice — Across the East End

Saturday, June 20 + Sunday, June 21 | North Fork wine trail and the Hamptons

The longest day of the year lands this weekend, and the East End tasting rooms are leaning into it. Lieb Cellars in Mattituck runs a Summer Solstice celebration Saturday with The Gerards playing 2 to 5 PM and Swear and Shake from 5 to 9 PM, Wölffer Estate in Sagaponack opens Saturday with vineyard yoga at 9 AM, and Diliberto Winery hosts a release party with live music and a raw bar. Up in Sag Harbor, an Arts and Crafts Fair runs all weekend in Marine Park, and Montauk has a Sunday morning whale watch out of the harbor.

This is the clearest transportation case we run all season. A real day on the wine trail is three or four rooms, and someone in the group always ends up the designated driver instead of enjoying it. Route 25 through the North Fork is narrow and dark at night, the drive back west is long, and a DWI out east is the risk people talk themselves out of until it is too late. With US Open traffic stacked on top of normal summer volume this weekend, the East End roads are at their heaviest of the year. One car for the group, a route built around the rooms you actually want, and everybody gets to drink. Our Sprinter van service covers groups of six to fourteen for exactly this kind of day.

Getting Around Long Island This Weekend

The whole island is busy this weekend, and the pressure splits by region. Out east, the squeeze is the US Open: Montauk Highway and the Sunrise Highway around Southampton are at their worst of the year through Sunday, and that volume bleeds into every North Fork and Hamptons trip. In Nassau, the Jones Beach causeway and the Meadowbrook and Wantagh Parkways bottleneck around the Riley Green show. In central Suffolk, the parking is the problem, not the road: full lots at Tanger in Deer Park and at the ballpark in Central Islip on a fireworks night.

For the US Open, the move is a direct drop that skips the shuttle lots. For Jones Beach, it is beating the causeway crush both ways. For the Famous Food Festival and the Ducks, it is the parking lot you avoid. And for a North Fork wine day, the answer is not driving at all, especially with the East End this full.

We cover all of it — airport transfers, corporate travel, and weekend trips across Long Island. Whether it is a Father's Day round at Shinnecock that skips the shuttle, a Jones Beach night that beats the parkway, a family day at the ballpark, or a North Fork wine trip where the whole group gets to enjoy it, the process is the same.
